Typically, streams should start within 5-10 seconds. If it takes longer, the channel may be experiencing issues or may not be broadcasting.
We currently offer 116+ live TV channels from over 15 countries. Our platform features diverse content including:
Yes. All channels on Open TV Streams are publicly available broadcasts provided by the official broadcasters. We do not host, record, or redistribute copyrighted content. We simply aggregate links to legal, free-to-air streams that broadcasters have made publicly available. We comply with all takedown requests from content providers.
We welcome channel suggestions! While we can't guarantee every request will be added, we evaluate all submissions. Channels must meet our criteria: publicly available, legally streamed, reliable source, and reasonable quality. Contact us through our blog or social channels with your suggestions.
Channels may be removed for several reasons:
We regularly review our channel list and try to replace removed channels with similar alternatives.

Click the star icon (☆) on any channel to add it to your favorites. Starred channels appear in a dedicated "Favorites" category for quick access. Without an account, favorites are stored in your browser's local storage. With an account, they sync across all your devices.
The "I'm Feeling Lucky" button (🎲) selects a random channel from our entire catalog and starts playing it immediately. It's a fun way to discover new channels you might not have tried otherwise. The feature works across all channels regardless of your current category filter.
The search box at the top of the sidebar searches across channel names, descriptions, countries, and languages. As you type, results update in real-time. Search also provides autocomplete suggestions based on your search history and popular channels. Press S to quickly focus the search box.
The "Recently Watched" category displays the last 10 channels you've viewed, with the most recent first. This makes it easy to return to channels you watch regularly. This data is stored locally in your browser unless you have an account, in which case it syncs across devices.
Currently, channels are automatically sorted by availability and reliability, with your favorites appearing first. Custom manual sorting is a feature we're considering for future development. Your feedback on this feature is welcome!

We primarily use HLS (HTTP Live Streaming), an industry-standard adaptive bitrate protocol. HLS automatically adjusts video quality based on your bandwidth. We also support direct YouTube embeds for channels that broadcast via YouTube. Our infrastructure handles both native HLS (Safari) and HLS.js (other browsers) for maximum compatibility.
Currently, we don't offer a public API. However, our channel list is available in JSON format for developers who want to build on our platform. If you're interested in API access or developer partnerships, contact us to discuss possibilities.
While we embrace open-source philosophy and use open-source technologies extensively, the complete platform is not currently open-sourced. We may open-source specific components in the future. Our channel aggregation methodology and streaming infrastructure are built on transparent, open standards like HLS.
We use Vercel's globally distributed edge network for high availability. If our platform experiences an outage, channel links are still accessible (they're hosted by the broadcasters, not us). You can always visit broadcaster websites directly. We monitor uptime continuously and work to resolve issues quickly.
